About Magtech 9mm

Magtech is manufactured by CBC (Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos) in Brazil and is consistently one of the best-value brass-cased 9mm options available in the US market. Clean-burning propellant and reliable primers. Popular with high-volume shooters and ranges. The 115gr (9A) is the most common configuration. Brass-cased, boxer-primed, reloadable.

115gr vs 124gr vs 147gr — Which to Shoot

The 115gr (9A) is the default choice for range use — cheapest, lowest recoil, and the most widely stocked. The 124gr (9B) is worth considering if your carry ammo is 124gr, since training at the same bullet weight helps build consistent recoil management. The 147gr flat-nose (9G) runs subsonic and is popular for suppressed shooting, but it costs $0.02–0.04/rd more and has no advantage for general range work. For most shooters, 115gr is the right call.

How It Compares

Magtech trades blows with Blazer Brass ($0.18–0.24/rd) as the cheapest brass-cased 9mm on the market. Both run reliably and produce similar accuracy at typical range distances. Federal American Eagle ($0.20–0.28/rd) costs slightly more but is made domestically, which some shooters prefer. Magtech's edge is consistency — CBC runs one of the largest ammo plants in the world and quality control is tight for the price point. The one downside is that Magtech sometimes ships with tight primer pockets, which reloaders should be aware of.

Buying Tips

Magtech 9mm is almost always cheaper per round when purchased in 1,000-round cases. Look for case pricing under $0.19/rd — that is a strong buy for brass-cased 9mm. Individual 50-round boxes are fine for testing, but the per-round savings in bulk are significant. Set a price alert for Magtech 9mm to catch drops, since pricing can vary $0.03–0.05/rd between retailers on any given day. Magtech availability tends to be steadier than domestic brands since it is imported on regular shipping schedules.
