IronScout Privacy Policy

1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how IronScout collects, uses, and protects information. IronScout is a US-only service at launch.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Email address
- Account credentials
- Saved items and alert preferences
- Gun Locker entries you choose to add: caliber, an optional nickname, and an optional image
- Ammunition you associate with a Gun Locker entry, and the use you declare for it (for example: training, competition, or carry)
Information We Do Not Collect
IronScout does not collect firearm serial numbers, purchase history, proof of ownership, or payment card data.
Images you attach to a Gun Locker entry are stored as you provide them. We do not inspect, verify, or interpret them, and we do not treat them as evidence of anything.
Voice Search (Optional)
Some browsers show a microphone button in the IronScout search box. If you use it, your browser — not IronScout — turns your speech into text. Most browsers do this by sending the audio to their own speech provider: Google on Chrome and Edge, Apple on Safari. That step is handled by your browser vendor and governed by their privacy policy, not ours.
IronScout receives only the resulting text, and treats it exactly like a search you typed. We do not receive, process, or store the audio, and we cannot tell from a search query whether it was spoken or typed.
Voice search is always optional. Your browser asks for microphone permission before the first use, you can decline or revoke it in your browser settings, and you can type your search instead at any time.
3. Automatically Collected Information
We may collect IP address, browser type, device information, and usage events for security, reliability, and analytics.
4. How We Use Information
Information is used to operate and maintain the service, monitor prices and availability, deliver alerts, improve relevance, and prevent abuse. We do not sell personal data.
When Gun Locker personalization is on, IronScout labels search results that match the firearms and ammunition you have saved, and enables the "For my loadout" search scope. This labeling is descriptive only: IronScout does not rank, recommend, or verify that a cartridge is safe or correct for any firearm. You can turn it off at any time — see Your Rights.
5. Cookies and Tracking
IronScout uses cookies for authentication, session management, and analytics. You can control cookies through browser settings.
6. Sharing of Information
We may share limited information with analytics providers, infrastructure providers, and affiliate partners (click-level only). We do not share personal identity with retailers.
IronScout does not send your voice anywhere. If you use voice search, the audio goes from your browser directly to your browser vendor's speech provider and never passes through IronScout — see Voice Search above.
Gun Locker contents — nicknames, images, and the ammunition you associate with an entry — are not shared with analytics providers, affiliate partners, or retailers. Analytics receives only counts and the categories of a match (for example, that a result matched on caliber or grain), never the values themselves.
7. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary to operate the service or comply with legal obligations. You may delete your account at any time.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information. No system is perfectly secure.
9. Your Rights
You may access, update, or request deletion of your account information.
You may turn Gun Locker personalization off at any time in Settings. When it is off, IronScout stops labeling search results with your saved data and the "For my loadout" scope has no effect. Your Gun Locker entries remain saved; you can delete them individually at any time.
10. Children's Privacy
IronScout is not intended for users under 18.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be posted clearly.
