What to know
For clay shooting, #7.5 and #8 shot are standard. #7.5 has slightly larger pellets (better for trap at distance), #8 has more pellets (better for skeet at closer range). Case quantities (10 boxes / 250 rounds) carry the lowest per-round cost. At equal velocity and gun weight, a 1oz payload produces less recoil than a 1-1/8oz payload, which is why 1oz loads are common in high-volume clay shooting.
