About CCI Blazer .22 LR

CCI Blazer is the no-frills bulk plinking option from CCI. Lead round nose at standard velocity. The 525-round bricks are the most common purchase size and frequently available under $0.06/rd. The 5250-round case is the best per-round value. Not as reliable in semi-autos as Mini-Mag (expect occasional failures to cycle in picky guns), but fine for revolvers, bolt actions, and most semi-auto rifles.

Pack Sizes and Value

The 525-round brick (10021) is the sweet spot for most buyers — portable, frequently on sale, and available at most retailers. The 5,250-round case (10022) is ten bricks and offers the absolute lowest per-round cost, often under $0.05/rd. The 50-round box (0021) only makes sense if you need a small quantity to test. For regular plinking, buy at least the 525-count. If you have storage space and shoot often, the 5,250-round case locks in bulk pricing and keeps you supplied for months.

How It Compares

CCI Blazer is one of the cheapest .22 LR options from a major US manufacturer at $0.04--0.08/rd. Federal AutoMatch runs $0.05--0.07/rd and offers better semi-auto reliability. Aguila Standard 40gr sits at $0.04--0.07/rd with similar bulk performance. Remington Thunderbolt is in the same price bracket at $0.04--0.07/rd but has a reputation for being dirtier. CCI Mini-Mag at $0.07--0.11/rd is the step up when you need guaranteed cycling. Blazer is the best value when you are shooting revolvers, bolt actions, or semi-autos that are not picky about ammo.

Buying Tips

Watch for sales on the 525-round bricks at big-box retailers — they frequently drop below $0.05/rd during holiday promotions. Blazer is lead round nose, so expect more barrel fouling than copper-plated options like Mini-Mag. Clean your gun more frequently during extended sessions. Blazer is not the best choice for semi-auto pistols that struggle to cycle standard-velocity ammo — test a box in your specific gun before buying in bulk. For bolt guns and revolvers, it is hard to beat Blazer on value.
